In-House Woodworking Machinery Technician

Job description

Oliver Machinery is looking for a career-minded in-house Technical Service Representative in our Renton, WA office. Successful applicants will have excellent mechanical skills and the mechanical aptitude for learning woodworking machinery in a fast-paced, small office, working environment. The position requires a high degree of safety, accuracy and productivity to ensure that our customers receive the excellent customer service they expect from Oliver Machinery. This position requires basic computer literacy and prefers at least 2-years of experience as a safe and accurate forklift operator.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Ability to diagnose basic machine operational issues over the phone and offer effective resolution.
  • Ability to assemble, test, and/or repair woodworking machinery as needed.
  • Have the ability to read machine part schematic images to diagnose part needs.
  • Process part orders for customers as needed.
  • Diagnose various electrical issues and perform the installation of both 1Ph and 3Ph machinery motors as required (very limited).
  • Assessment of freight damage to machines.
  • Clean and maintain machines and parts.
  • Use of various measuring tools and all types of hand tools.
  • Perform miscellaneous projects and work in other departments as needed.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Prior woodworking machinery experience preferred.
  • Electrical Technician Certificate required along with the electrical and mechanical aptitude needed for basic customer assistance.
  • Minimum of two years troubleshooting experience in a Customer Service or production environment preferred.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical components (gears, bearings, etc.).
  • Experience using a volt-ohm meter along with various electrical and/or mechanical tools.
  • Understanding of basic electrical components (switches, relays, overloads, fuses, power supplies, sensors, motors).
  • Experience in reading manuals, schematic breakdowns and parts lists.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work with customers in a positive, calm manner.
  • Must be able to speak and read English. Additional languages a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written customer service skills.\
  • Computer literate in MS Office products. QuickBooks knowledge a plus.
  • Detail oriented and organized.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks with 100% follow through.
  • GREAT personal and positive attitude and be 100% accountable.
  • Ability to thrive in a small office environment that is less structured than larger corporate settings.
  • Teamwork oriented.
  • Must be able to provide excellent references.

Work Environment

This job operates in a casual dress but professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machine.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to fingers, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee will be required to drive a warehouse forklift as needed.
